A former El Modena High School music and band teacher's underage sex conviction has been overturned by an appellate court, which ruled that jurors should not have heard about her sexual relationships with three former students when they were of legal age.

The case stemmed from a relationship Attebury had with a 15-year-old male sophomore when she was a music instructor and band director at El Modena. She had sexual encounters with the youth, a member of the band, at her home in Orange between February and September 2008, according to prosecutors.
